Each pair of across and down clues have had their clues combined. In each case, the clue for the first word may come before or after the clue for the second word. How many clues have the first word word clued after the second word?

+ – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – +

Solvers should submit the answer to the question, and nothing else, in the answer box below. There is no need to send a completed grid or solution, or to explain your answer. Closing date for entries is midnight on January 21st 2024. The winner will receive their choice of any of the Telegraph Crossword Books. In the event of two or more entries being received from the same solver all of these entries will be disqualified, except that mistakes can be corrected by using the box below and clearly requesting that the earlier entry be withdrawn. The winner will be drawn at random from the correct entries. The editor’s decision is final.

Please note that, due to punitive postal charges, while the competition is open to all, the prize is only available to UK solvers.

To return to this page follow “Cryptic Crosswords / Monthly Prize Puzzles” from the main menu.

A review will be published after the closing date.
