A Puzzle by Alchemi

The people appearing in the grid have a connection with years ending in 16. In most cases, it’s that they were born in one.
The one who wasn’t died in one – and that’s the name to put in the box.

+ – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – + – +

Solvers should enter just the name, and nothing else, in the answer box below.  There is no need to send a completed grid or solution. Closing date for entries is midnight on April 16th 2016. The winner will receive their choice of any of the Telegraph Crossword Books published by Hamlyn. In the event of two or more entries being received from the same solver all of these entries will be disqualified, except that mistakes can be corrected by using the box below and clearly requesting that the earlier entry be withdrawn. The winner will be drawn at random from the correct entries. Editor’s decision is final.

Please note that, due to punitive postal charges, while the competition is open to all, the prize is only available to UK solvers.

To return to this page follow “Cryptic Crosswords / Monthly Prize Puzzles” from the main menu.

Feedback on puzzles is welcomed and will be passed on to setters. A review will be published after the closing date.
